Northeast Minneapolis is renowned for its community of artists. Historic industrial buildings have been transformed into studios and galleries. The Grain Belt Brewery complex and the Northrup King Building are fantastic examples of creative re-use. Artists working in the California Building, the Q'arma Building, the Thorp Building, and the Casket Arts Building also contribute to an eclectic and thriving art scene.
In 2003 the City of Minneapolis declared The Northeast Minneapolis Arts District as the city’s official Arts District. From the river to Central Avenue and from Broadway to 26th Avenue NE, this geographic area boasts untold opportunities to please the senses and stretch the mind.
