NE Minneapolis makes the Guinness Book of World Records

The cluster of churches found at 13th and Monroe Street have earned mention in the Guinness Book of World Records for having more churches on one block than anywhere else in the world. Churches are plentiful everywhere in Northeast and reflect a rich tradition of worship, social service, and community involvement.

What makes this particularly unusual is that even the holiest of cities do not carry this distinction. This block is one of the only blocks in the entire world known to be home to four churches, one on each corner, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. The largest of the quad, Emanuel Lutheran, was built in 1899 in Gothic Revival style. Around that same time, Elim Baptist went up, followed by St. Peter's Lutheran and Strong Tower Parish.
